THE OLDEST ARTISANAL CONFECTIONARY IN ITALY
Founded in Genoa in 1780.
Our history is deeply rooted in Liguria, land of see, cultural exchanges and international trade. Flowers and fruits from Liguria’s sloping shores have always been the noble ingredients our artisans respectfully transform, following the traditional expertise of the confiseur-chocolatier.
OUR ICONIC PRODUCTS
ROMANENGO ICONIC BOXES
Our packaging for artisanal sweets has been an unmistakable symbol since 1780, representing the natural extension of the craftsmanship that guides our production. Each package, crafted with care and passion, transforms a simple gesture into an exclusive gift rich in tradition.
CHOCOLATE
Ancient machines process cocoa, cocoa butter, sugar, and milk following the traditional times and methods of the past. Even today, we still produce the traditional French «Santé» chocolate, made exclusively of cocoa and sugar, once renowned for its nutritional benefits and unique flavor. The iconic artisanally candied clementine slices dipped in dark chocolate create a delightful contrast that enhances every bite.
FRUITS AND FLOWERS
Fruit, sugar, respect for the times of nature. Since the Middle Ages, the ancient oriental wisdom of sugar processing, learned during the First Crusade, has allowed Genoese cooks, monks and artisans to achieve the perfection of the art of candiing.
FONDANTS
Fondants, rosolio drops, demi- sucres, jellies, fruit pastes, gummy candies. Tools and ancient machines, still in use, keep our factory alive: but the attention and the gesture of the craftsman make these creations unique.
SUGAR-COATED SWEETS
"La dragèes est la partie la plus difficile des travaux du confiseur." – Barbier Dubal, 1789. Ancient sweets that preserve, thanks to sugar, seeds, plants and spices, already known in the Middle Ages and widely appreciated in France and Italy.
The traditional Genoese assortment includes: pine nuts, cinnamon, Bronte pistachios, Avola almonds, aromatic almonds, and candied orange peel.
